Founded in 2017 by Partners Ryan Jackson and Michael T. Simon, Simon & Jackson Properties began as a hands‐on single family home remodeling business focusing on full gut renovation projects that were financed and contracted by the Partnership. On determination in 2019, the Partnership sought and capitalized on an opportunity to pivot to new construction, urban planning, and development with the demolition of five contiguous distressed properties to build a 5‐unit ground up new construction townhome complex marketed to students at the University of Louisville. S&J Properties managed all aspects of planning, development, and general contracting of the project through purchase to leasing. Upon that success, the Partnership has continued with their business plan to become the premier off campus student housing option at UofL leading to over 20,000 square feet of new development servicing 38 student-tenets with property value of over $4M. With the experience and knowledge gleaned from these ventures, today the company is striving to expand into broader real-estate ventures with a goal of providing investors with solid returns on investment and high potential earnings. Ryan Jackson comes from a family with extensive entrepreneurial construction and property ownership experience. He earned his undergraduate degree in Accounting and Marketing, along with a master’s in accountancy, from the University of Kentucky. Having acquired his CPA during a 7-year tenure at Ernst and Young, Ryan honed his skills in accounting, finance, and project management. In conjunction with overseeing the student-living business he co-founded in 2017, he serves as a consultant to private equity firms, specializing in post-acquisition support. Ryan resides in Louisville KY, where he works to rejuvenate and develop his city.
Michael T. Simon also comes from an entrepreneurial family background, growing up in a six-generation printing business with over 1800 employees and one million square feet of manufacturing space. Here, he learned to practice the ethos of viewing businesses with a long-term perspective and the value of treating employees and customers with respect as family. He earned a B.S. in Economics from the University of Louisville School of Business. After years of pursuing his passion for construction and urban development in the student housing business he co-founded, Michael enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served overseas in Australia and Indonesia as a fireteam leader in the infantry of the First Marine Division, stationed in Camp Pendleton, California. Michael resides in Dana Point CA, with his wife Anna, continuing to serve in 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines.
